Project Summary
For this project, we transformed a residential backyard into a functional and visually striking outdoor space, centered around a French pattern Alaskan Silver Premium Tumbled Travertine pool deck. Spanning 1,267 square feet, the deck was carefully designed for durability and aesthetics, incorporating a bullnose travertine coping and a matching border stone for a seamless, high-end finish. A French drain system was integrated to ensure proper drainage and long-term stability.
Leading to and from the pool deck, we installed travertine paver walkways and slab sandstone steps to create smooth transitions throughout the space. The carriage deck, finished with the same pattern-cut travertine and accented with a border stone and veneer, provides a cohesive look that ties the outdoor elements together.
To enhance the usability of the space, we built a custom full-color Pennsylvania irregular flagstone walkway, offering a natural, rustic element that blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Three slab sandstone staircases provide durable and well-integrated access points, connecting the pool deck to the carriage house and other key areas of the property.
A 28-foot sandstone retaining wall was constructed at the head of the pool deck, serving both as a structural element and additional seating. Built with hand-cut sandstone blocks and capped with thick-cut stone, the wall adds both function and timeless beauty to the design.
For a focal gathering space, we installed a wood-burning fire pit veneered in sandstone, built on a reinforced concrete base for lasting strength. The pit features firebrick lining, a sandstone cap, and a built-in drainage system, ensuring longevity and ease of use. A custom-fitted spark screen and cover provide safety and protection when the fire pit is not in use.
