Project Summary

For this Mt. Lebanon landscaping project, we worked closely with a Pittsburgh pool builder to complete a full backyard renovation. Our scope included all excavation, utility preparation, and hardscape installation to create a durable, well-structured outdoor space.

We started with excavation for the pool, hot tub, and fire pit, removing over 250 tons of infill while stockpiling material for backfill where needed. We also ran all necessary utility lines, including electrical, gas, and water, to support the pool equipment, grill station, and low-voltage lighting. To manage runoff, we installed a stormwater infiltration sump in the front yard, complete with yard drain piping and a sump system designed to meet local stormwater regulations.

Once the pool was installed, we handled all of the finishing work, starting with the Thermal Bluestone patio. This 1,627 sq. ft. patio was installed over a reinforced concrete base, ensuring long-term durability. Bluestone coping was set around the pool and hot tub, with banding details that define the space. All pavers were set and mortared in place for a clean, high-quality finish.

We also built a sandstone retaining wall along the driveway, which serves as a planting bed and structural support. The wall includes integrated drainage and geogrid reinforcement to ensure stability. Five Wissahickon Schist stone piers were installed to support a pergola, each built on reinforced footers and veneered with stone to match the home’s exterior.

A custom-built grill station was installed between the pergola piers, featuring Wissahickon Schist veneer and a granite countertop. We coordinated with the homeowner to ensure proper placement for utilities and any necessary plumbing or electrical connections. The fire pit, built with sandstone veneer and a mortared cap, was constructed on a reinforced concrete base and includes a stainless-steel drain to manage water buildup.

Final steps included installing low-voltage lighting, site cleanup, and restoring the lawn areas impacted by construction. This project required extensive coordination, precision installation, and high-quality materials to ensure a long-lasting outdoor space. If you’re looking for a professional contractor to handle your landscape and hardscape project from start to finish, we’d be happy to discuss your plans.
